About Me
Why, A Sense of Calm?
A Sense of Calm came about after feedback from clients, who after Reiki, had said they felt calm and relaxed after a session, this was then reiterated with clients I had worked with during my counselling training, so seemed a natural choice to cover all the treatments that I offer.
My experience in working in various industries has given me a good grounding in understanding the world, but having therapist knowledge means that I can provide you that sense of calmness you feel after a uplifting treatment.
My mission is to provide a personalised, compassionate, and professional counselling services that support individuals in navigating life’s challenges and achieving emotional well-being.
I am dedicated to creating a safe and confidential space where clients feel heard, respected, and empowered to explore their goals, heal from difficulties, and build meaningful, fulfilling lives.
Through evidence-based practices and a holistic approach, clients are encouraged to strive and foster growth, resilience, and lasting positive change
I believe that there will always a solution to a problem.
Sometimes we just do not know what that is, yet!
As part of my professional practice I continually look to develop and increase my own knowledge and understanding.
This helps to provide relevant and up to date support, and means that I can adapt to the individual’s needs.
I know that life brings moments of challenge that can feel impossible to face alone. I have experienced this both personally, and professionally through the people I’ve supported.
My journey as a counsellor began with a deep desire to create spaces where people feel safe, heard, and valued — especially when the world around them feels heavy.
I trained in integrative therapies, with Person-Centred Counselling at the core of my belief. This means that I am able to adapt to the individual needs of each client, holding their needs central to the work that we do in a session, whilst working on human connection and self-awareness. These approaches remind us that we all have the capacity to heal and look forwards when given the right conditions: empathy, understanding, and respect.
My work has taken me into deeply moving spaces:
· At Marie Curie Hospice, I walked alongside individuals and families facing terminal illness and supporting those through grief, holding space for stories of love, loss, and resilience. I also volunteer at a local cancer support service and have a qualification in understanding cancer support.
· My work with the Affordable Counselling Network, offered online counselling, helping people access support when financial circumstances felt like a barrier. It helped to broadened my counselling studies, and enhanced my awareness of a variety of challenges faced in the world.
I have also supported people experiencing domestic abuse, honouring their courage and helping them rediscover their voices.
In addition to counselling, I am also able to offer holistic therapies and I am a practitioner in Reiki and crystal therapy, mindfulness and meditation. These gentle, energy-based methods offer another pathway for increasing a persons wellbeing — one that supports not just the mind, but also the body and spirit. Clients can choose to combine counselling with these therapies, finding balance and peace in both conversation and energy work.
For me, is about more than fixing problems — it’s about reconnecting with who we truly are. It’s about walking through pain or difficulties you are facing, at your own pace, with someone beside you who believes in your capacity to grow.
If you’re considering taking that first step, I’d be honoured to walk with you.
