Counselling Services

What is counselling, and who is it for?

Counselling is a form of talking therapy, where you experience a safe, non judgemental, and confidential space to talk through your thoughts and feelings.

You do not have to be at the point of crisis, burn out, or emotional breakdown, before choosing to have counselling. You may be experiencing underlying feelings of dissatisfaction with life in general, or be seeking balance. All of these reasons and more will bring individuals to therapy.

Counselling can help people of all ages, with different experiences, diverse backgrounds and cultures. Life is not always easy and can be very confusing at times. We can all have experiences that leave us feeling emotionally vulnerable and struggling to make sense of our thoughts, feelings and actions.

You can have counselling at any age, there is no age limit. For it to be successful you just need to be prepared to be honest in your sessions and give yourself the time that you need.

I work with adults over the age of 18 years old.

What can I expect from counselling?

Counselling is not something that is done to you, it is a working partnership where you are supported in a non-judgmental environment to explore the issues affecting you and your life.

It empowers you to make judgments, and explore solutions to your own problems in a safe environment.

It creates opportunity to improve your self-awareness and internal resources. You will be encouraged to talk about what is troubling you. Talking through your concerns will lead to a much better quality of life. The aim is to work with you, to enable you to become clearer about the extent of the issue or problem and how it may affect you.

Counselling can support you in recognising a way forward, empowering you to make positive changes in your life.

I offer in person therapy also know as face to face, and online sessions.

Before our first session?

Before we have a first session together, we will have a short conversation over the phone to talk about what you are hoping to achieve from counselling. This gives use both time to see how we connect. In a person centred approach, the connections between us is key to the effectiveness of the therapy.

If at this point you are not sure I am the right person for you, or I am unable to support your needs there is the opportunity to discuss where to go next.

Should you feel happy to continue we will arrange for first session.
