This is based on traditional Chinese medicine, using acupuncture points to deliberately tune into a problem and become aware of their triggers that are disrupting their bodies energy, and using the end points of the meridians to clear the bodies energy system, and combining the more scientific therapies of Neuro Linguistic Programing (NPL), and Thought Field Therapy (TFT).
NLP – Neuro Linguistic Programing
Developed in the 1970’s by Richard Bandler and John Grinder, this is a form of psychotherapy that focus on the relationship between the mind and language. It believes “our thoughts create our reality”. By reframing our negative thoughts and beliefs with more positive ones we can overcome problems and achieve our goals
TFT – Thought Field Therapy
Developed by Dr Roger Callahan a psychologist who found that tapping on a patient in a session had help the problem disappear.
•Think of an idea
•Quantify it on a scale of 0-10
•Tap on points in a specific order
EFT – Emotional Freedom Technique
Gary Craig trained as an engineer at Stanford University. He had a long-standing interest in psychology and became a Certified Master Practitioner in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP). He studied TFT with Callahan. He then took the ideas he had learned and expanded them. He developed different methods of using EFT including the movie technique and tearless trauma.
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), often called tapping, is a gentle yet powerful method that helps calm the nervous system and release emotional stress held in the body. By focusing on a specific issue while using light tapping, EFT supports the natural ability of the mind and body to rebalance.
When distressing memories or ongoing stress are triggered, they can disrupt emotional and even physical wellbeing and lead to recurring negative thoughts and feelings. EFT helps interrupt this cycle, allowing emotional intensity to soften and creating space for clarity, calm, and relief.
Many people use EFT to support emotional resilience, reduce stress, and feel more at ease in their daily lives. It is simple, non-invasive, and can be used as a self-care tool or with guidance from a trained practitioner.
EFT doesn’t require reliving the past in detail—it works by helping the body feel safe enough to let go.
When used with a qualified counselling practitioner, both it can be integrated safely and effectively, ensuring emotional regulation, support, and insight throughout the process. It can help to overcome negative beliefs, addiction, depression, physical pain and traumatic events.
